The Support System

Typical Swimming Pool Filter SystemFor enjoyable swimming, you'll want a swimming pool filled with comfortably warm, sparkling clear that's free from harmful bacteria and other microorganisms and has the correct chemical balance.

It is the support system that heats, filters, and circulates the water to achieve the warmth and clarity you'll expect. In addition, the support system, as it circulates the water, evenly distributes the chemicals that you add to control purity and chemical balance.

The Filtration System

The filtration system, which recirculates and filters the water in the swimming pool, is the only essential pool equipment. It enables you to use the initial water supply over and over again, adding just the little water necessary to backwash the filter and compensate for evaporation and splash-out.

The filtration system is composed of four elements: the filter, a pump and motor, an automatic surface skimmer, and recirculating piping. All the materials used should be corrosion resistant – certain types of stainless steel, bronze, plastic, or other nonferrous material.

The pump circulates the pool water through the filtration system, mixing the sanitizing chemicals and, if the water is heated, distributing the heated water evenly.

The water passes through the filter, which removes unwanted debris. The filter, along with chemical treatment and cleaning, assures you of sparkling clear and sanitary water.
