Activating the water
The basic mover of water in a spa is the pool pump. To give a real sensation of moving water, the pump is boosted with either venturi jets or a blower, and sometimes both.
The Use of Venturi Jets
A venturi jet, also called hydro jet, restricts the flow of water in a tube, thereby increasing its velocity.
Venturis can be fixed units or can have a swiveling eyeball to allow changing the direction of the flow. Some have a separate air intake to produce bubbles.
The Use of Blowers
Blowers produce more intense bubble action than a venturi jet alone by introducing air into the venturi, or blowing air through separate inlets. They are usually controlled by their own switch so bubbles can be options.
These blowers must be at least 30 centimeters above water level or must be protected from flooding by air loops and check valves. |
